Answering more burning questions
Yes. Measurable savings and new revenue, not “feel-good” fluff.
• A family-run takeaway in Scotland cut energy bills by ~£4,000/year by upgrading to a high-efficiency fryer, with emissions down 11.7 tCO₂e/year. Business Energy Scotland
• Contract wins & market access:
Even if you’re not directly in scope, large buyers in the EU now have to report value-chain impacts under CSRD and manage supply-chain risks under CSDDD. That means they increasingly ask smaller suppliers for verifiable sustainability data. Being “buyer-ready” helps you win and retain contracts in the EU, UK, Canada and Australia. • Retention risk (global): In Deloitte’s 2024 survey of Gen Z & millennials, about 20% have already changed jobs to better align with their environmental values, with another quarter planning to do so. Deloitte
• Growth when a small brand leads with proof (Love & Green, family-run) : By anchoring its diapers in the EU Ecolabel from launch, France’s “Love & Green” helped push sustainable diapers to ~20% market share in France by 2023, clear evidence of demand responding to certified claims. Environment
There are two perfect times: at the beginning and now.
When you’re forming a company, buying a business, opening a site, or launching a product, it’s far cheaper and easier to build sustainability into processes from day one than to retrofit later.
Real example: Hotell S:t Clemens (Visby). The new family owners bought the cheapest and most tired hotel on the island. From the start of their ownership, they built sustainability into the renovation and day-to-day operations (Nordic Swan Ecolabel, detailed waste sorting, efficient water/energy use, responsible purchasing, staff routines, and guest experience). The result: a transformed, consistently top-rated hotel in Visby. The case is discussed in Verksamhetsstyrning för hållbar utveckling (Skoog, Cöster & Isaksson, 2023).
If you’re already operating, the next-best time is now. Expectations from customers and lawmakers are rising; waiting only increases cost and risk. For micro and small companies, implementation is simpler and faster, which is a massive advantage!
We use facts.
– Audit first: every claim is based on verified findings from your Light/Full Audit.
– Rules & Regulations:
Sweden: Konsumentverket – Miljöpåståenden: regler för företag
EU: Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition (EmpCo) Directive
France: Guide pratique des allégations environnementales
UK: CMA – Guidance on environmental claims on goods and services
(These are examples; we use additional frameworks case by case)
– Quantify & scope: Numbers with a baseline, date, and boundaries (site/product/scope). No vague terms.
– No “tree-planting as a fig leaf”: We do not recommend tree-planting schemes as a headline action. At Sahio Consulting, we scrutinise them heavily. They are very often used as greenwashing. Offsets are a cherry on top, not the cake. Real work = measure, reduce, substitute, then (maybe) compensate.
– Third-party assurance you can show: After our audit & greenwashing check, you may display “Third-Party Audited & Checked by Sahio Consulting” (you can also omit our name if it suits your business more) with the verification date and scope (site/product). Verification is point-in-time and valid up to 12 months. Full details (updates, notification, terms) are in our T&Cs.
Your information stays confidential, and we can sign an NDA on request. For audits and proper delivery of work, we must access some information : the exact items and delivery method are decided case by case.
We do not work with arms, tobacco, fossil-fuel extraction, hunting, or hate-based ideologies. We also decline projects where supply-chain transparency can’t be verified for e.g., anonymous drop-shipping with no control over suppliers or materials, marketplaces that can’t provide chain-of-custody, or companies unwilling to share environmental/social data or allow reasonable audit access.
